Mosaelia — Privacy Policy
Last updated 16 August 2026
Mosaelia is a collage editor that runs on your device. It has no account and no analytics, your photos are never uploaded, and the advertising it carries can be removed for good with a single purchase.
Photos stay on the device
Images you pick through the Android Photo Picker are copied into the app's
private storage (filesDir/projects/<id>/assets). The core
editor makes no network requests and works fully offline, including in
airplane mode.
Projects are local
Drafts, thumbnails and settings live in app-private storage — files, a local database and local preferences. Uninstalling the app removes them.
Exports are explicit
Images are written to Pictures/Mosaelia only when you tap
Export.
Sharing is a hand-off
The Android share sheet receives a read-only link to the file you exported, and the app that receives it is your choice. Mosaelia never posts on your behalf and never talks to Instagram's APIs.
No account, no analytics, no crash reporting
None of these exist in anything Mosaelia does itself. There is no sign-in, nothing is measured about how you use the app, and no report is sent when something goes wrong.
Advertising, and how to switch it off
Mosaelia shows advertisements in two places only: below the recent projects on the home screen, and after an export has finished. Never while you are editing.
- A single purchase removes them permanently. Ownership is read from Google Play; nothing about it is stored anywhere else, and it follows your Google account to a new device.
- They are served by Google AdMob, which collects an advertising identifier and the usual request information.
- In the EEA you are asked first. A consent form appears before any advertisement is requested. If you refuse, advertisements are not personalised — the app states that in every request rather than leaving the advertising library to infer it — and nothing else about Mosaelia changes.
- Three Privacy Sandbox permissions the advertising library declares by default — advertising ID, attribution measurement and the Topics API — are removed from this app. Topics derives interest signals from what your device is used for, and that is not something Mosaelia will take part in for a better advertising price.
- With no network, an advertisement slot occupies no space at all. The editor works offline, and an empty slot looks like an app that never had one.
Permissions
The app declares ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE (used by the background
export scheduler), INTERNET, and
com.android.vending.BILLING for the purchase above. The editor
itself opens no network connection.
Two optional on-device features use Google Play services
The subject cutout and the carousel's cut-face check are the only parts of Mosaelia that use the network, and only through Google Play services. Both run entirely on your device, and your photos are never uploaded.
- Each needs a model that Play services fetches on demand — the cutout's when you ask for it, with visible progress; the face check's the first time you use it.
- When either is used, the ML Kit library reports usage diagnostics to Google: device and app information, a per-installation identifier, performance metrics and error codes — configuration and sizes, never image contents. This is encrypted in transit, and Google offers no opt-out. Google documents it at developers.google.com/ml-kit/android-data-disclosure.
- On devices without Play services, both features report themselves unavailable and the rest of the app is unchanged.
The cut-face check is detection, not recognition — and never automatic
It answers one question: would a page boundary fall across somebody's face? To do that it asks for the positions of faces in the photos of the collage you have open. It does not ask for landmarks, contours or expressions at all, so it reports where a face is and nothing about whose it is.
No face data is stored. The boxes exist in memory while the editor is open and are gone when it closes, and nothing about them is written into your project. It runs only when you press the button — never when you open a project, and never in the background.
Logging
Release builds log only warnings and errors, and never image contents, text you have written, private file paths or query data from links.
Children
Mosaelia is not directed at children and collects nothing that could identify anyone.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. A change that affects what leaves your device would arrive with an app update, and this page is updated before that update is published.
